Born and raised in Prairie Village, Kansas. The youngest of three boys, Sam grew up playing team sports, but quickly realized that he was more interested in ‘useful’ sports, such as running, swimming, and weightlifting. It was his interest in these types of functional activities that would later find him becoming interested in CrossFit. While he hasn’t been doing CrossFit long, he has quickly become obsessed and is relentlessly pursuing improving his skills. Sam is passionate about physical and mental well-being, and he thinks that exercise is the key to both. In his free time, he enjoys staying active and being outside. Some of his hobbies include biking, hiking, and being pulled around on his skateboard by his dog Sigmund. Stuff Sam absolutely loves, but doesn’t get to do very often (thanks Kansas...), includes stand-up paddle-boarding, surfing, skiing, and snowboarding.
During the height of the Covid-19 Pandemic, in the depths of winter, Sam was living alone in a one-bedroom apartment with his dog, working full-time, and was enrolled in school full-time, using his lunch breaks from work to go to class. Between work, school, and taking care of his four-legged companion, his physical and mental health moved further and further down his list of priorities until it became obvious that they belonged at the top of his list. He immediately started running five days a week with his dog, something they both benefitted from and enjoyed. After doing that for a while, he decided he wanted to take his fitness to a new level. That is when he found CrossFit and the 2020Fit community. Since then, he has felt healthier, both physically and mentally, than he has ever felt before.
Exercise, CrossFit in particular, has had such a profound effect on Sam's confidence, physical health, emotional health, and overall sense of wellbeing, that he is determined to help as many people as possible feel as good as he feels.
