Maybe I have a problem. I need to constantly have something on the calendar that is going to push me. Ask Brit and she’ll tell you it’s been one of our bigger conflicts in our blissful and loving marriage.
And that problem led me to do a HYROX race last weekend with several other epic people from 2020. My takeaway after partaking is that is a type of fitness I want to pursue for the rest of my life. Strong enough to be dangerous. Conditioned enough to never have to stop. It’s what I’ve been trying to find since my Ironman/CrossFit hybrid days.
And here’s one anecdotal piece I noticed. The people all look really good. As vein as that might be (why do most of us really workout anyway..?), both the ladies and the fellas all looked very balanced of strength vs. conditioning.
I share more about my experience here and urge anyone who is on the fence to talk to someone who’s done one so they can talk you in to putting one on the calendar.
LOL lifting - MAKE A VIDEO - This is currently my favorite class to coach. (sorry) We get to do all the things I’m obsessed with: Technique, the ladies ask great questions, and they want to learn.
• Cuba swimmer - Nyad. This lady is unbelievable. • Seeing on the socials that people are talking about mouth taping for 10 years. I’d hoped by now everyone is doing it but I tell people daily and I still see wild eyes. It’s the cheapest, easiest thing you can do to improve your health. Use this stuff and don't pay for the expensive stuff.
• Books - Season of Life (re-read) for all my fellas out there and for any of our ladies who have boys to raise in to men. Sober Curious - Have a drinking problem is does your drinking create a problem in your life. Funny/entertaining read on how to get off the treadmill of feeling like crap and anticipating being left out if you don’t drink.
• Go ruck plate carrier. Must have. Picture of me • Cupping set. Got this at x-mas and love it. The boys love setting it up for me. https://a.co/d/9GjiHHf
• Do you often find yourself wondering…why am I ordering a second drink? Why does every situation revolve around drinking? Would life, and my well-being, be better without alcohol? (Sober Curious)
"Make healthy easy" - you will eat what's easily available, so keep prepped food on hand.
When you make food choices that are not aligned with your goals, most of the time it's because it's not readily available, or easy.
These two actions make all the difference:
1. have cooked protein on hand 2. keep a big salad prepped and ready in the refrigerator.
Use my favorite salad for inspiration, add protein, and you've got a balanced meal. Click here for the recipe
To make a salad a meal, be sure to include protein, smart carbs, fat, and plenty of flavor.
Ladies, listen to this podcast episode to help clear up confusion around what to eat, when to eat, and how to optimize your workouts.
