Kym was raised in a small farming community in northern Illinois where she was a three-sport athlete in high school. She attended Marquette University in Milwaukee where she ran track specializing in the 800m and the 400m hurdles. After earning her master’s degree in Spanish and Education, Kym and her husband, Hans, moved to Kansas City in 1999. While raising their three kids, she also taught Spanish for 26 years. She finally returned to sports in 2011 when she was introduced to CrossFit, where she enjoys competing. She is thrilled that her second career allows her to be a part of a team again and coach her passion daily! In her free time, she is likely traveling to visit her kids or maybe crewing for Hans, who is a kick-butt ultramarathoner - yes, he’s crazy!
